The Three Stooges Maximum Mayhem, Part I

The Three Stooges

The deadline had been set, in part, by Russell Crowe, whom they were hoping to cast as Moe, the angriest and most violent Stooge. Moe pudding-bowl haircut , Larry unruly hair , and Curly no hair are dressed in white medical scrubs, standing around a nun lying semi-conscious on an operating table with her abdomen cut open. The Stooges work on her with an electric toothbrush, and then with a vacuum cleaner. Curly turns it off and Moe holds up the vacuum nozzle, revealing a wishbone stuck in the end. Larry and Curly each grab an end and start pulling. Or should the bone go in one nostril and out the other?

Born out of a touring vaudeville act, the Three Stooges were commissioned to make comedy short films in the early days of Hollywood. Even to this very day they can still make us laugh. The Stooges got their start working with vaudeville legend Ted Healy. Ted was the man that not only got them on stage but in film, too. Healy was notedly an unpleasant man, however, and was noted for getting blind drunk and getting into fist fights. While his cause of death remained sketchy, it was a popular theory that he died of injuries incurred while fighting, rather than his alcoholism.

Sign in. While trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry and Curly inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and wind up starring in a reality television show. Left on the doorstep of an orphanage run by nuns at birth, three friends Moe, Larry and Curly spend their time eye poking and slapping each other all the day long. But when their orphanage suddenly goes bankrupt, the three Stooges set out to save it by journeying into the world to find a way to raise the money required. But their quest brings them into being used in a murder scheme and landing them into a popular reality show. Left on the doorstep of an orphanage managed by nuns, newborns Moe, Larry and Curly grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure.

Few artists have suffered more for their art than Moe Howard, Curly Howard, and Larry Fine, the most recognizable members of the revolving comedy troupe billed as The Three Stooges. For decades, the former vaudeville performers filmed a series of shorts that used pain, pies, and misunderstandings as the basis for their unique style of physical comedy. Check out some facts about their early days, their surprisingly economical salaries, and why Adolf Hitler wanted them dead.
