The Mystery Knight by George R.R. MartinThe third Dunk&Egg story, and perhaps the most plot filled, and the one with a more obvious connection to the ASOIAF (Set a couple generations in the future). I think reading this helps to figure out a small mystery in the ASOIAF, particularly a ADWD revelation (view spoiler)[namely the three eyed crow. And I do believe we have cameos by Lord Frey here (hide spoiler)].
But my enjoyment of the Dunk&Egg stories is seems to be reverse chronology, I loved the first, liked a lot the second story, but this third story I like with reservations. The writing did not work for me the same way strangely. And while there are some subtle details (view spoiler)[like Dunk not realizing Bloodraven was under disguise as Plumm (hide spoiler)] the final scene seems a bit half-cooked (view spoiler)[ Egg being the egg that hatched into a dragon? Is what he did here as different than what he did at Ashford? Egg has been like this *all* the time. And only thing which changes is that Bloodraven has now noticed him again. Egg is still going north with Dunk. (hide spoiler)]

Tagging along with him is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg — whose true identity must be hidden from all he and Dunk encounter: for in reality he is Aegon Targaryen, and one day he will be king. Improbable heroes though they be, great destinies lie ahead for Dunk and Egg; as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than illustrations by Gary Gianni, one of the finest fantasy artists of our time, this beautiful volume will transport readers to the world of the Seven Kingdoms in an age of bygone chivalry. However, Egg has a huge secret, a secret kept by a character from Game of Thrones , at least up until this last season. The story continues with The Sworn Sword. Dunk and Egg must maneuver the political and martial landscape of a war-torn land in the Reach, where neighboring Lords constantly fight for simple necessities like water to supply crops. Martin had this to say back in February of this year :.
