The Ring of the Nibelung, Vol. 1 by P. Craig RussellA multiple Eisner Award winner, P. Craig Russells adaptation of the Ring cycle by German composer Richard Wagner is about to be collected in a handsome two-volume set. Volume One, with new introductions and behind-the-scenes production art, presents The Rhinegold and The Valkyrie. The magical gold of the Rhine maidens is stolen, leading to a twisted story of vengeance and betrayal. The tainted product of the theft, a simple ring, perverts the will of everyone it comes in contact with, from the most lowly hunchback to the father of the Gods. Read the original tale of the cursed Ring, as adapted by one of comics finest creators, P. Craig Russell.

He is a marine community ecologist interested in identifying the drivers of marine community dynamics, and how to interpret change in marine communities. He works mostly with shallow reef systems, but current work also includes the Southern Ocean. His work is evenly divided between field programs and computer modelling, and across animals and seaweeds. He leads a productive group of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. His research is broadly concerned with the space-time dynamics of marine ecosystems, encompassing interactions among suites of organisms spanning bacteria, algae, invertebrates and fish.

I have always had a strong interest in science and in particular human biology, health and disease and the associated interventions. My undergraduate degree in Human Biology mapped onto this interest and included molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and physiology modules among others, which would carry relevance in the physiology and pharmacology setting I progressed into. I further developed my knowledge and bolstered my interest in these fields during my PhD. During this period, formulation of oral liquid antihypertensives formed the initial stages of my project; here an understanding of the chemical and physical properties of drug molecules as well as drug action on a molecular level in a physiological setting was essential. In vitro and In vivo characterisation of developed formulations utilising cell and rodent based models paved the way for subsequent genomic investigations into intestinal transporter expression profiling using microarray technology and bioinformatics.
