The Lost Gospel: Decoding the Ancient Text that Reveals Jesus Marriage to Mary the Magdalene by Simcha Jacobovici

The Dead Sea Scrolls, the Gnostic writings and now The Lost Gospel, a newly decoded manuscript that uncovers groundbreaking revelations about the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth - a startling follow-up to the New York Times bestseller The Jesus Family Tomb.
Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century i.e., Jesus’ lifetime.  And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus’ social, family and political life.

The Lost Gospel takes the reader on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is as astounding as it is surprising: the confirmation of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus’ life, 13 years prior to the crucifixion; an assassination attempt against Mary Magdalene and their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene. Part historical detective story, part modern adventure The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

WAS JESUS CHRIST MARRIED TO MARY MAGDALENE?

'Lost gospel' claims Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married and had children

The publication on Nov. I was even the butt of one of Bill O'Reilly's attacks and have challenged him to an on-air debate. So far, he's demurred. I think the reason for all this negativity is that the proof for the historical marriage between Jesus of Nazareth and the woman known as Mary the Magdalene has become overwhelming. Even before our findings, everything -- everything -- pointed to a marriage, and nothing -- nothing -- argued for Jesus' celibacy. The only thing that continues to argue for Jesus' celibacy is years of theological bullying. This may come as a shock to most people, but the fact is that none of the four Gospels say that Jesus was celibate.

A new book based on interpretations of ancient texts features an explosive claim: Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene, and the couple had two children. The writers say they spent six years working on the book. Their arguments are based on an ancient manuscript dating back nearly 1, years, one they say they found in a British library, translating the text from an Aramaic dialect into English. This is not the first assertion that Jesus was married. All rights reserved. Play ABCNews.

Mary Magdalene , [a] sometimes called simply the Magdalene or the Madeleine , was a Jewish woman who, according to the four canonical gospels , traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion , burial , and resurrection. The Gospel of Luke —3 lists Mary as one of the women who traveled with Jesus and helped support his ministry "out of their resources", indicating that she was probably relatively wealthy. The same passage also states that seven demons had been driven out of her , a statement which is repeated in the longer ending of Mark. In all four canonical gospels, she is a witness to the crucifixion of Jesus and, in the Synoptic Gospels , she is also present at his burial. These texts, which scholars do not regard as containing accurate historical information, portray her as Jesus's closest disciple and the only one who truly understood his teachings.
