Only the chapter on Modernism slightly disappointed me. I felt that Joyce was given rather short shrift on a number of fronts and >way< too much conflated with Eliot--and I really wished that my beloved H.D. was given more attention than her rather passing dismissal in the conclusion; somewhat a product of the times, I suppose. Anyway, if it werent for those two relatively minor drawbacks, Id have given every >page< five stars....
