The Three Bears by Paul GaldoneA classic fairy tale, this story recounts the interesting life of three bears, all of individual size and mannerisms. When they lay out their breakfast one morning and go for a stroll in the forest, a greedy little girl comes upon their abode and forgets all the manners she has been taught. Eating their food, breaking their chairs, and sleeping in their beds. When the bears return, they notice all the brouhaha and make a stink, only to spook the brat. Funny, they never see her again. Neo laughed throughout the story as I narrated all three bears a little differently. He asked if we might have some porridge in the morning, but that might also have been related to the previous Paul Galdone story we read tonight. See if you can find it on my READ feed.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Here is Goldilocks and the Three Bears is a nursery tale. There is reason to doubt them, in fact, but the story is an eclectic and intriguing mix of elements. In the form in which you probably know it best, it certainly originated as a modern literary fairy tale. It was first published anonymously by the poet Robert Southey seen here around the time he was writing it. It is interesting and salutary to note the changes which the story thereby underwent. They have always lived in a house furnished with appropriately-sized beds, chairs and the like; and, of course, they have tended to eat porridge.

Folktale and Fairy Tale Resources in the CRC: Goldilocks and the Three Bears This guide will connect you with the folktales, fairy tales, variants, and fractured versions of traditional tales from around the world. Traditional tale about a girl who enters the home of three bears while they are taking a walk and helps herself to their belongings. Three bears return home from a walk to find a little girl asleep in baby bear's bed.
The original version of the tale tells of a badly-behaved old woman who enters the forest home of three bachelor bears whilst they are away. She sits in their chairs, eats some of their porridge , and sleeps in one of their beds. When the bears return and discover her, she wakes up, jumps out of the window, and is never seen again. The second version replaced the old woman with a little girl named Goldilocks, and the third and by far most well-known version replaced the original bear trio with Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear. What was originally a frightening oral tale became a cozy family story with only a hint of menace. The story has elicited various interpretations and has been adapted to film, opera, and other media.
