100 Ways to Motivate Yourself: Change Your Life Forever by Steve Chandler

I made the mistake of listening to this audio without taking any notes. But MOST of this book is just platitudes and platitudes. But there is some good stuff in here that gives some almost-specific instruction, for example-instead of making yourself the victim of everything, tell yourself, I am the problem because when you see yourself as the problem, you also see yourself as the solution- I thought this piece was a gem! And there were some bits of gems sprinkled here and there all of which make up (made up for 3/5 stars) for most of the platitudes in this book.

Update: As I am re-listening (eh?) to this I remembered one shitty piece in the book. The author throws shade at democracy subtly Marxist, economic superstition that to make money, you have to take it away from someone else....people who think they dont have enough (money).

If I was a poor person as I went along life watching the rich get richer and then hearing this guy say, Quit thinking there isnt enough, such Marxist superstition that someone has to **lose money**- Id think this guy as the Donald Trump who is well-spoken. This is what I hate about some (I do mean some, not all) conservatives. Some of these people say, Whats wrong with being smart and successful? Why pay taxes? Well, here it is for you- you either want to take the side of people being smart & successful or take the side where less people die hungry or in debt- the side you choose says everything about you

How to Find and Keep the Motivation to Change

We rarely challenge ourselves, and it limits us in reaching our full potential. Oftentimes, when we do desire to change, we find it hard to see it through. The reason is that we lack the motivation to change. Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. It becomes easier to change yourself and develop good habits when you have someone to look up to.

When I was growing up, I hated being poor. It was my pain. I despised the lack of everything. Food, a regular bed and a lack of a safe environment to live. The pain to get out of those circumstances compelled me to study, gain knowledge, learn skills, look for a job and work hard. Pain became the motivation to change my life because I hated my present situation at the time and I was willing to do whatever it took to get out. I need a place to go.

The secret of motivation is that it begins between your ears. Motivation is like a puzzle and you have to see how the pieces fit together before you can get the full picture. How you view the world, beginning with your mind and attitude, will hinder or help you on the path to getting and staying motivated. Motivation does not come from external sources. In my experience, some of the pieces to this puzzle can be found in the following life principles:. Among his various independent brands, he is also the founder and CEO of Funds2Orgs , which is a social enterprise that enables nonprofits, individuals and organizations to raise funds while helping to support micro-enterprise opportunities in developing nations. Find someone to look up to

Almost exactly 8 years ago today, I ran my first marathon and soon after I started Zen Habits. That was a period of intense and profoundly scary life changes for me, but they were all of my choosing. I decided to make them happen, and I pushed until they did. Maybe you want to quit your job and start a business, or start an organization that will change the world in some way. Maybe you want to change your eating and fitness habits and become healthy.
