I feel breathless, scared and thoroughly grossed out from reading this book. By now youve no doubt heard about teenage girls who cut themselves. I picked up this book from the library because I thought it was going to be funny and lighthearted. It is not.

Women’s history month 2019 rolls on this time with a quality book for middle grade kids. One of my kids won Letters from Rifka as a prize from the library summer reading program a few years ago and it has been sitting on my book shelf begging to be read. Karen Hesse wanted to preserve her family’s history and interviewed her great aunt Lucy Avrutin, who provided a treasure trove of stories for her to use in her writing. Aunt Lucy’s memories combined with Hesse’s ability to weave a story gives way to an award winning tale about perseverance of a young immigrant girl. The year is 1919.
IDENTICAL, based loosely on the myth of Castor and Pollux, is the story of identical twins Paul and Cass Giannis and the complex relationships between their family and their former neighbors, the Kronons. The novel focuses principally on events in 2008, when Paul is a candidate for Mayor of Kindle County, and Cass is released from the penitentiary, 25 years after pleading guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, Aphrodite Kronon. The plot centers on the re-investigation of Aphrodites murder, carried out together by Evon Miller, an ex-FBI agent who is the head of security for the Kronon family business ZP, and private investigator Tim Brodie, 81, a former homicide detective.
A ferocious and compelling mystery-drama for the #MeToo era in the vein of The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica KnollWith the snow falling fast on a New Hampshire mansion, seven 20-somethings assemble to celebrate an upcoming marriage in a debaucherous weekend that will change their lives irrevocably. The lavish trip to celebrate Will and Jessica’s upcoming nuptials brings together a cast of characters who know each other from Ivy League schools and childhood Upper East Side haunts: Lulu, an LA-based Instagram influencer; Maxie, a former Park Avenue princess, now Midwestern housewife; Yael, an ER doctor from Ohio; Rob, a colorless Wall Street trader; Will, a morality-obsessed lawyer; Jessica, his perfectionist bride-to-be, and Alex Sable, a lawless bon vivant. Alex, son of a billionaire hedge-fund scion, was the sole witness against his classmate in a serial rape trial 15 years ago, which seems to follow Alex wherever he goes. By Will and Jessica’s wedding day, four months later, Alex Sable would be dead. In that same house, in a bathtub filled with his blood.
